My name is Jeff and I’m the creator of Picksmith, the first pick company to make a researched proprietary bevel the forefront of its products. With over 20 years as a multi-instrumentalist playing strings including guitar, mandolin, banjo, dobro, and bass, my passion for music runs deep. I’ve also won some awards at competitions for musicianship. For a long time I’ve made picks for myself and friends, but realizing my passion and skill for it I’m now bringing them to the masses. I would be intrigued when one pick had multiple points and they would all feel and sound different, and I went on a quest to figure out why. My search ended with the pick’s beveling. I think that bevels are the most important part of a pick, and no one makes a pick like I do since my bevels are all shaped freehand. I view pick making as an art, the plastic as my easel, and myself as an artist. I make picks that are loud and punchy, but sweeten with a light touch. That have a satisfying bite on the strings, but manage to stay quick and agile because I engineered them to be that way. It might sound crazy, but I’m on a mission to make the best picks in the world and that’s how I approach this endeavor. I meticulously handmake each to my standard, and you’ll see my craftsmanship put into every one. By design these should feel right at home, right away. No more awkward break-in period required.
